The Lapidarium

The section of the medieval and modern lapidarium is located in the portico and along the staircase of Palazzo Giovio. The city has been transformed over time and with its buildings: some still exist, others no longer.
Stones remain, fragments of urban, civil and cultural fabric that the museum now contains and preserves. These are coats of arms that once adorned the keystones of the noble palaces of Como, tombstones also figurative, dedicatory inscriptions and commemorative, some of which recall famous people or events worthy of note.
