WHAT IS IT?
It is an important road work to build an other way to avoid traffic jams between Colonno and Tremezzo.
That area is often subject to traffic congestions because the streets are narrow and a lot of trucks risk to get stuck and in the last years the volume of traffic has increased, especially during summer because of tourism.
HOW LONG THE ROAD WORKS WILL BE?
They will close the road in Colonno (you cannot pass even by foot) from Monday the 29th of November 2021 at 09.30 a.m. to Tuesday the 29th of March 2022 at 05.00 p.m.
The construction company need these months to build the entrance, the next construction phases will not affect the traffic.
ARE THERE ANY OTHER ROADS?
Yes, there are.
You can go by car to Argegno, go through Val d’Intelvi to reach San Fedele and then Porlezza, a small village on Lake Lugano (it is still Italy) and then go to Menaggio: here you can choose to go towards Tremezzo or North Lake Como.
It takes 1h22m to Menaggio.
Go to Bellagio and take the ferry to Cadenabbia, Menaggio or Varenna (here the weekdays and holidays timetable, price €8,60 car with driver, €4,60 all additional passengers).
It takes 55 m by car to Bellagio and the ferry takes 10/15 minutes to cross the lake.
As you reach Cadenabbia you can decide to go to Tremezzo or North Lake Como.
From Como cross the border to Switzerland (Chiasso) and take the highway to Lugano, exit in Lugano and follow the road to Menaggio.
From here you can go towards North Lake Como or Cadenabbia, Tremezzo and Lenno.
From Como go to Lecco, take the highway towards Valtellina and exit in Colico to explore North Lake Como.
On the same way you can stop in Varenna where you can take ferries to Bellagio, Cadenabbia e Menaggio (here the weekdays and holidays timetable, price €8,60 car with driver, €4,60 all additional passengers).
HOW CAN I TRAVEL BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT?
The public administration has decided to upgrade bus and boat services.
It is possible to take the C10 MENAGGIO or C20 LANZO to go to Argegno, take the boat to Sala Comacina and then continue with the C10 MENAGGIO.
