Istituto Giosuè Carducci

A project by architect Cesare Mazzocchi

Istituto Giosuè Carducci is a project by architect Cesare Mazzocchi and it has been inaugurated on the 20th of September 1910 to host Associazione “Pro Cultura popolare”, born on the 18th of August 1903 to promote culture within lower classes. 
Here many initiatives by the association have been hosted, and they include the creation of the Science Museum  “Museo delle Scienze Casartelli”.

In September 1927, on the occasion of the Volta celebrations organized in the centenary of Alessandro Volta's death, at the natural sciences room at Istituto Carducci the International Congress on Physics was held. Twelve Nobel laureates participated in the event. The room is now called “Sala dei Nobel”.

Nowadays Associazione Istituto Carducci is still active and it organizes conferences and concerts. The building is also home to the Università degli Studi dell’Insubria, Law Faculty.
