Corners in their physical and symbolic meanings are at the centre of this introspective Art Exhibition.
The Ugly, The Unloved, The Unwanted, the artist Alberto Loro’s exposition cured by Giacomo Nicolella Maschietti, opens from 10th to 25th June 2017 at the Natta Space in the city of Como. A project about Loro’s works, aimed on the representation of the corner and its contrasting interpretations.
“The exhibition, that embraces social, art and photography, explores the concept of “angoli” (literary: corners and angles) as a hideout where the victims of bullying, homophoby, racism, indifference or antisemitism are pushed into, where they get crushed into.
Being in the corner also forces the individual into a direct conflict with their own fears, allowing confrontation which may become redeeming and gives to the victims a new force that transforms them from marginalized to protagonists” Nicolella Maschietti says.
“All the characters that accepted to have themselves portrayed, posing next to Alberto Loro’s work, want to invoke their moments of difficulty, but their ability to get over them too: that vulnerability becomes the major point of force and embodies the social and deep meaning of the artistic initiative. Knowing ourselves becomes the start to face each other, face the illiteracy and all the attitudes of social emargination which they derive from” the curator adds.
The path still changes, transformes itself, opens, seems to take flight and to heat. IT LIVES. Being put into the corner has helped oneself to feel free. Free from the pre-concepts and aware of living in the most beautiful place in the world. OUR OWN BODY. And finally the ugly, the unloved, the un-wanted becomes strong, accepting and enriching.
Alberto Loro was born in Milan where now he lives and works.
