Shine! Pink Floyd Moon
Journey into the world of the moon, with a clever play of light and video projections, but above all with dance and live music.
“The Pink Floyd? Music that has a soul...”
This is what inspired the famous choreographer/director Micha van Hoecke to create his new work Shine! Pink Floyd Moon, protagonist at the Teatro Sociale in Como on Saturday 23rd November at 8:30 pm, on the unforgettable songs of the legendary British band, music from its early years, timeless music, a bridge between rock and classical.
Accompanied live by the psychedelic and hypnotic sound of the acclaimed band Pink Floyd Legend, performed by soloists from the Daniele Cipriani Entertainment Corps de Ballet, Shine! by Micha van Hoecke is a journey to the moon, not only (or perhaps no longer) a place of madness and lost common sense, but a symbol of poetry, of fantasy, of life itself: but if the dark side of the moon in 1973 gives the title to one of the most famous LP records of the band, Micha instead reveals its bright side.
Produced by Daniele Cipriani and Gilda Petronelli, played by an overall cast of around thirty artists, a clever play of light and video projections transforms Shine!'s stage space into a surreal moon inhabited by characters similar to Pierrot Lunaire and Petrushka, the “lunar” beings who captured the imagination of Schoenberg and Stravinsky, or from the masks that came from the curtains of the Comedy of Art.
The starting point in the creation of Shine! was the famous Shine on You Crazy Diamond song in which Roger Waters, Nick Mason, Richard Wright and David Gilmour, pay tribute to their partner Syd Barrett who was lost in the unknown regions of the “moon”, understood as a mental illness.
A series of video projections, installed by Andrea Arnese of the Legend, recall silver moons and starry skies, covers of Floydian albums, or events related to Pink Floyd, while a clever play of lights and lasers transform the stage space into a surreal environment where dreamlike visions intersect to create sidereal worlds, yet at the same time they are very close as they exist within us.
Weaving through the dancers of the Compagnia Daniele Cipriani's Corps de Ballet, a versatile group that in recent years has come to the attention of the public, not only in the classic Italian repertoire, such as The Nutcracker or Coppélia by Amedeo Amodio, but also in works of a more contemporary feel such as Mediterranea by Mauro Bigonzetti, the ten musicians of Pink Floyd Legend propose the unforgettable songs - from “Wish You Were Here” to “Another Brick in the Wall” - of their English matrix, songs that act as a bridge between rock and classical music.
