"Perpetuum coronata triumphat" (Sap 4,2). The coronation of Our Lady and her Village in Como
from 05 Sep 2019 to 25 Oct 2019
Cos'è
The exhibition is dedicated to the centenary of the coronation of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, venerated since the end of the 1800s in the Basilica of San Giorgio, and to the town that was chosen to radiate this Marian devotion in the diocese of Como.
From the origins of Borgo Vico through the following centuries, the exhibition visually recounts the development of the neighborhood, its parish church, and the worship of Our Lady, who, on 15 August 1919, was solemnly crowned in the Cathedral by Pope Benedict XV through one of his Legates, Card. Ferrari archbishop of Milan.
The gold crowns, embellished with stones and diamonds, were donated by the city of Como as a sign of gratitude for the protection during the Great War and the long-awaited peace.
Opening Thursday, 5 September 2019, 6:30 pm at the Sagra Gioventù.
